Saul Mbenga, a Gambian-US Citizen. As part of the Gambian diaspora in the USA, he became an activist when his good friend, former Gambian Finance Minister, Koro Ceesay was murdered by Gambian security forces on president Jammeh's orders. âWhen Jammeh came into power in 1994 he changed the whole fabric of society. He started with arrests and then the killings soon startedâ¦ and with the killing of Koro Ceesay, it flipped the whole history and that was it. I became an activist...whenever they killed someone, or someone disappeared we were out making a fuss. And Jammeh, he understood, his biggest problem was the diaspora because he could not touch us."
