(LEFT) Alagie Abdoulie Ceesay a radio journalist with Taranga FM station, at his office. Ceesay was detained and tortured by former Gambian president Jammeh's security forces in July 2015. He was pulled from his car by plainclothes officers, blindfolded and taken to a detention site. He was questioned as to why Taranga FM was broadcasting news that could cause instability in the country, beaten until he collapsed, and then dumped on the street. Alagie was detained again a few days later and suffered a broken arm, dislocated leg and internal bleeding at the hands of his interrogators. His family smuggled him over the border to Senegal where he spent six months receiving treatment.
Alagie said "I was taken 4 days after my cousin and fellow journalist at Taranga FM Alhagie Ceesay was abducted by them. They said we were both a threat because we were collaborating with enemies of the state"
